April 13, 2012 Long Table Series: 5 Alameda beers paired with 5 dishes

Table setting

Yesterday evening saw me at this month’s installment of the Long Table Tasting Series at the Pumphouse Pub in Richmond. This event was hosted by the folks at the Pumphouse Pub (http://www.pumphousepub.com/) and the guys at Beer Thirst (http://www.beerthirst.com/). The evening featured five courses specifically created by Chef Daniela Laci to be paired with five beers from the Alameda Brewing Co, draws for bottles of the new “Bad Bunny Imperial Cream Ale”, and a performance by the Van Dolls Burlesque Troupe.

The pairings were as follows:

Course 1 – Alameda KlickitatPale Ale with Ajiaco (Columbian potato and corn soup)

Course 2 – Alameda El Torero IPA with Empanadas stuffed with beef and cheese

Course 3 – Alameda Yellow Wolf IPA with Ceviche de Vieiras y Camarones (Ceviches         with scallops and shrimp)

Course 4 – Alameda Black Bear Stout XX with Stout-infused Paella (rice, pork, chicken, and rice)

Course 5 – Alameda Bad Bunny Imperial Cream Ale with Torta de Tres Leches con Arequipe (Three Milks Cake with caramel)

A lot of hard work put was in by the folks at the Pumphouse and the guys at Beer Thirst; my thanks to all of them for a great evening. The food was fantastic, the beers were incredible, and the atmosphere was terrific. I’d have to say, the only disappointment of the evening was the Canucks Vs Kings play-off game on the big-screens. Now, that was definitely Friday-the-13th-scary… but that’s a rant for a different blog….
