- Dhow-rigged vessel.
After breakfast, we climbed aboard a dhow anchored near shore and sailed off for a morning of snorkelling. The captain took us to a couple of off shore reefs where people swam or lounged on the deck enjoying the view.
The rest of the afternoon was a welcome chance to relax. Eron hand mehndi done by two local ladies on the beach. They represented the miss-mash of cultures that is Zanzibar: they were clearly African, were wearing traditional muslim clothing, but with South Asian style adornments including nose piercings, jewelry, and mehndi.
Another great example of the juxtaposition of cultures on Zanzibar was seeing groups of young Maasai warriors in traditional garb chatting it up with nubile, bikini-clad European mzungus.
We went to the Langi Langi “Rastarant” (http://www.zanzibarislandhotels.com/langi-langi.html) for dinner. Great food, laid back atmosphere, and a power outage. Dining by candlelight just added to the atmosphere.

Clear bluewaters,,,great cigars///culture dis-associations…ie worlds collide…what a great vacation!
That water and beach look incredible! Great shot of the Maasai vs.bikini’s. Never saw that in Nat Geo.

Howdy! Would you mind if I share your blog with my twitter group? There’s a lot of people that I think would really enjoy your content. Please let me know. Thanks 628570
Go ahead! The blog is for any one who is intersted. Thanks for your comment.
You really make it appear so easy together with your presentation but I find this matter to
be really something which I believe I’d by no means understand.
It seems too complex and extremely vast for me.
I am taking a look forward to your subsequent put up, I will
attempt to get the cling of it!
